Shania Twain was born Eilleen Regina Edwards but later renamed (1990) Shania Twain which means "I'm on my way" in Ojibwa language.

Shania made her debut album with Mercury Nashville Records. Later worked with Mutt Lange on "The Woman in Me" and "Come on Over". She married Mutt Lange on December 28th 1993.

Her 1995 album "The Woman in Me" eventually sold over 12 million copies. The Woman in Me went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Country Album as well as the Academy of Country Music award for Album of the Year; the latter group also awarded Twain as Best New Female Vocalist.

Her 1997 follow-up "Come On Over" sold even more and confirmed her superstar status. Songs from the album won four Grammy Awards over the next two years, including Best Country Song for Twain and Lange for "You're Still the One" and "Come on Over" and Best Female Country Performance for "You're Still the One" and "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!".

Her 2002 album "Up!" sold two million copies in the U.S. in its first month of release. Shania have three of her albums to be certified diamond by the RIAA.

Twain currently lives in Switzerland with Lange and their son Eja. She is currently working on her next studio album, which is scheduled for release in 2006. In August 2005, she released the single "(Men Are Like) Shoes" from the Desperate Housewives soundtrack. A television biopic of Twain, Shania: A Life in Eight Albums, is scheduled to air on CBC Television on November 7, 2005, with Meredith Henderson starring as Twain.

Shania is a singing star performer- entertainer, and almost a legend in her own time. Her fame as a global superstar is the biggest country success story of the '90s.
